Transparency and tours of inspection, not 'King's New Clothes Statements', please Mr Green

Blogger and Honorary KUWG Member Kate Belgrave says regarding supply of support to vulnerable disabled benefit claimants made more vulnerable by lack of real support and far too much 'conditionality' plus sanctions plus council rent arrears pursuers breathing down their necks:

.... It is my experience that commitments made by ministers and the DWP don’t always exactly match the reality of the everyday journey on the ground. Let’s add that to the list of issues to explore. I’m keen for Mr Green [the new Work & Pensions Secretary] to open jobcentre doors at all times to journalists, claimant representatives and anybody else who wants to forensically examine the facts of the DWP’s support for sick or disabled benefit claimants.....(1)

Work & Pensions Secretary Stephen Crabb's tax avoidance wheeze

John Ward blogs exclusively about new Work & Pensions Secretary Stephen Crabb's tax avoidance scheme of declaring oneself with HMRC as a company for tax purposes.(1)

Ward likens Crabb to a pig. I wonder if that is fair? Perhaps pigs can be more affectionate while not being hypocritical either?

Meeting structure

Helping you feel at home: We meet weekly in the Small Hall at KingsgateCC and start gathering from 3pm, attempting to start the meetings at about 3:15pm and definitely before 3:30pm.

Bring and share refreshments are included. We are not like the 'No eating or drinking on the premises' jobcentre.

The formal meetings start with firstname and what benefit we are on or a one-liner about what brings us to KUWG. (Pensioners and other allies welcome.)

We then ask for casework from those present, arrange who will help with what case, and go onto discussing campaigning leafleting and such outreach activities. We also arrange who will do the chairing or facilitating and note-taking for the following week. Rotating these roles helps minimise the risk of being dominated by one person and helps us build our skills as we share the workload.

Meetings actually finish at about 5:20pm to allow for putting tables and chairs back and leaving the kitchen facilities ready for the next group.
