KUWG member and Working Men's College Art & Design student Helen Mandley
is going through the assessment phase of her course toward
progression to Fine Art & Design degree course at
Middlesex University. She is one of those whose work is included in
WMC's 'avanti' festival at their Crowndale Road site in Camden (44 Crowndale Raod, London NW1 1TR, on 214 and
46 bus routes).
Her chosen topic for final exhibition is human trafficking. Further detail on some of this can be found at her Google+ site, http://reflectingbackhelenm69.blogspot.co.uk/
Helen is another person whose persistence has been mightily tested by officialdom. Student survival has always been easier for people with plenty of financial backing, and while UK Government seems hell bent on privatisation, removal of truly public services and putting workers in the pockets of sponsors, her chosen topic helps give a voice to some of those vulnerable and exploited people our Government wants to wash its hands of.
There will be private viewing on Friday 20 June, 6pm to 9pm. The exhibition continues Saturday 21 June till Wednesday 25 June, except for Sunday when it is closed.

Self-help support vs ravages of 'welfare reform'. Never attend anywhere official alone!
This blog currently focuses on national policy matters that impact upon KUWG members.
Kilburn Unemployed Workers Group as a group focuses primarily on combating benefits injustices locally through advocacy in individuals' benefit claims, and demonstrations that emphasise that there is hope when we come together. We are more angry than frightened.
