[Editor's note: An NTQ is a 'Notice to Quit. Thus NTQs are multiple Notices to Quit or depart a property]
Braving the erratic weather conditions, ten of the residents currently faced with eventual eviction from the Barham Park Estate
were joined by twenty housing activists and anti-poverty campaigners to
protest against the premature Notice To Quit orders issued by BCH.
Armed only with flyers, banners and a
megaphone the protestors assembled on the roundabout at Neasden Junction
in the hope of a lively debate – or at least an acknowledgement and
explanation for the NTQs – with BCH staff.
It was not to be: BCH staff had all left
earlier in the day. According to an inside source at The Grange: “They
all left hours ago, saying they had a training day”.
In the light of this unfortunate situation
it has been decided to offer an open invitation to BCH and Cllrs
Margaret McLennan and Rita Conneely (who is currently examining the
situation on the South Kilburn Estate) to attend a open public meeting
tomorrow which is being hosted by the Kilburn Unemployed Workers Group
housing team.
The meeting will be held between 11am and 1pm at Casa Latina, Priory House, 10 Kingsgate Place, NW6 4TA.
All are welcome.
Thanks to all those who came to the demo, offered support and help publicise the demonstration.
