The Children's Society

Hi.

We need your support to protect children from damaging payday loan adverts. Take action today and help us change the law.

What’s the problem with payday loan adverts?

Right now children are being exposed to a barrage of payday loan adverts. This irresponsible practice puts even more pressure on families struggling to make ends meet and provide the very basics for their children.

Our Debt Trap report found that a third of families with children have borrowed money to pay for essentials in the last year.

Today our new report exposes the extent that payday loan companies are targeting families, with nearly three quarters of children aged 13-17 saying they had seen at least one pay day loan advert in the last seven days. Children should learn about borrowing and money from their school and family – not from irresponsible payday loan adverts.

What can we do?

We’re determined to put an end to this shocking practice. We’re not alone. 74% of parents say they want to see a ban on payday loan advertising before the watershed. There is a crucial opportunity this autumn and we need your support.

Thank you for supporting our Debt Trap campaign. Together we can end the damage to children.
