Social Work Action Network London regrouping meeting

Swan London Convenor Dan has welcomed Dude Swheatie's offer of posting the following on the Kwug blog. Social Work Action Network brings together social work practitioners, service users, academics and students

  • against privatisation and cuts in public services and
  • for user-lead organisations in a world where people matter more than global corporations' capacity to create profit for their shareholders.

Dan wrote:
The SWAN National Conference on 4th June and the European Social Work Day of Solidarity with Refugees on the 5th at the Calais and Dunkirk camps went extremely well. Papers from the conference are below:

We write in order to inform you that we aiming to regroup SWAN London in the coming months including getting a new coordinating team together, bolstered by some of the activists at the conference. If you are interested in helping us to run the group and to contribute to radical social work in London, please get in touch.
We are also hoping to run an event on Social Work with Refugees, possibly in conjunction with BASW [British Association of Social Workers], in the Autumn. More information will follow.
Stay tuned and stay radical.
